Justin Matthews, Chief Operations Officer.
Mr. Justin Matthews has served as an educator in the states of Florida and North Carolina for the past seventeen years. He has held the positions of CEO/Executive Director, Region Director, Founding Principal, COO, Head of Upper School, and Assistant Principal, while also serving as an elementary and high school teacher in his career. In addition to currently leading one of the largest and most successful K-12 charter schools in North Carolina, Mr. Matthews regularly works with multiple schools and state entities in Florida and North Carolina through his consulting firm Alliance Education Services, and with AdvancED as a Lead External Review Evaluator. Justin also provides training for new charter schools planning to open in North Carolina for the Office of Charter Schools.
He was the 2010 National Innovation Principal of the year, and the runner up in the 2013 Governor’s State competition for the top 25 School Leaders in Florida. Schools under his leadership have won numerous national awards in the areas of academics, parent choice, school culture, and operations. Over the course of his career Mr. Matthews has been responsible for the successful construction of approximately two million square feet of charter school facilities, numerous gymnasiums, sports fields, cafeterias, playgrounds and other similar developments, and has coordinated over one hundred million dollars in financing for charter schools.
As Chief Operating Officer for Alliance Education, Justin provides onsite support for governance, operations and financing for facilities. leases and technology.
Jennifer Lucas, Chief Academic Officer.
Jennifer has 9 years of experience in education as an educator, curriculum coach, Principal and leadership mentor. During her tenure in Florida, Jennifer’s campus was recognized as a National Demonstration site and other national and state awards which received a variety of positive press coverage in local media for her school programs. In addition to serving as a team member for continuous school improvement visits, she also served as primary contributor for an education section in a widely published community magazine in Tampa.
She currently serves as the Managing Director of a k-12 program serving 1350 students. Jennifer is currently overseeing the development of a multi-million dollar athletic complex and has just helped the Academy receive a BB+ rating through Standard and Poor to complete a $22mm public bond offering. Jennifer serves on a state leadership committee to train new and current charter school operators and has been the recipient of numerous national and state awards for academic performance, parent satisfaction, and school climate.
Jennifer also serves on the Advisory Board for the North Carolina Public Charter Schools Association, as a chairperson for the Durham Collaborative for Charter Schools, and as a trainer for new charter schools deemed “Ready to Open” for the Office of Charter Schools.
As Chief Academic Officer for Alliance Education Services, Jennifer provides charter school leadership teams and governing boards support for their instructional staff and programs including evaluation tools and professional development as well as curriculum selection and data-driven decision making to improve academic achievement.
